Scottish Chambers of Commerce have a Business Rates campaign going on. SCC has been fighting to ensure the best possible deal for business rate payers in Scotland following the Scottish Government's decision to abandon Transitional Relief in this year's revaluation. Key dates are below:

• Feedback delivered by SCC (in consultation with Colliers International) to John Swinney on how to improve appeals
process.
Wed 7 July
• SCC meeting with officials to discuss how Scottish Government arrived at decision to abolish Transitional Relief.
Sun 11 July
• SCC and ECC media coverage in Scotland on Sunday on Business Rates.
Fri 16 July
• SCC to follow-up with John Swinney's office on brief submitted to improve appeals process.
• SCC to notify Scottish Government of Business Rates case studies.
Mon 2 August
• SCC meeting with Conservatives / Liberal Democrats to discuss Business Rates issue.
• ALL CHAMBERS to call for businesses across the network to lodge appeals against valuation this week.
• SCC will provide press release to all Chambers on the appeals process for local dissemination on Thursday 5 August.
Thurs 5 August
• SCC to release Appeals Process press release to media.
• ALL CHAMBERS to distribute Appeals Process press release supplied by SCC to local media.
Thurs 19 August
• SCC releases press release regarding Abolition of Transitional Relief.
Mon 30 August
• SCC sends Abolition of Transitional Relief press release and pro forma letter to local Chambers.
