Chambers and SMAS to help manufacturers boost productivity

A new partnership between the Chambers of Commerce and the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS) invites manufacturers to discover how to make their businesses more efficient, more productive and more profitable by becoming a Lean Enterprise. 

SMAS results in its first 3 years have been extremely successful; almost 200 businesses have achieved an average of more than £100k of productivity gains following on average a 10 day project with SMAS.

Established in 2006, the Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service (SMAS) is the Scottish Government’s flagship service, created to support the manufacturing sector across the length and breadth of Scotland.  SMAS is a dedicated team of industry specialists using their experience to work with all sectors, shapes and sizes of manufacturing businesses to support improvements in their productivity and competitiveness.

SMAS offers Scottish manufacturers a free one-day manufacturing review which can then be followed up with up to 10 days of productivity improvement support.  SMAS is unique in that it brings independent, hands-on, practical support based on best-practice processes which improve productivity.
