Hardie Engineering Scottish Curling Championships Return for 2026
DUMFRIES, SCOTLAND – As the world turns its eyes to the Winter Olympics, the "Home of Curling" is preparing for its own centre-stage moment. Dumfries Curling is proud to announce that the Hardie Engineering Men’s and Women’s Scottish Curling Championships will return to the Dumfries Ice Bowl from Tuesday, 24th February to Saturday, 28th February 2026.
This marks the fifth consecutive year that Dumfries has hosted Scotland’s premier national curling event. Strategically positioned between the Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the championships offer a high-octane platform for Scotland’s elite athletes to showcase their talent to a global audience riding the wave of Olympic excitement.
So get yourself along to the Ice bowl to watch or if you fancy trying your hand at curling then we have lots of TryCurling sessions available throughout February, March and April, with qualified coaches and all the equipment you need to get started. (TryCurling.com)
The 2026 championships are bolstered by the return of David Hardie Engineering Ltd. as the Principal Sponsor. This continued partnership, alongside vital contributions from local businesses and the Dumfries & Galloway Council Major Events Fund, ensures the event maintains its reputation for world-class delivery.
Gordon McKnight, Assistant Curling Manager, commented:
"We are thrilled that David Hardie Engineering Ltd. has once again committed as our Principal Sponsor. Their renewed support, along with our local partners and the Council’s Major Events Fund, is hugely valuable. It allows us to deliver a championship that meets international standards and provides a fitting stage for our top athletes."
The 2026 event is being planned as the most digitally ambitious yet, with fans able to expect live episodes of the SC Podcast, daily reviews, behind-the-scenes access, live scores, and live text coverage. Spectators who attend in person will enjoy an unrivalled experience watching some of the world's best athletes competing for their national title.
The Scottish Championships are the crown jewel in an exceptionally busy calendar for the venue. 2026 began with the World Mixed Doubles Qualifiers featuring over 30 international teams, followed immediately by a "marathon" Scottish Junior Mixed Doubles qualifying event consisting of 48 teams and 120 games over just four days.
Before the Scottish Championships begin, the Ice Bowl will also play host to the English Curling Championships, cementing Dumfries' status as a premier hub for the sport.
While the athletes take the spotlight, behind the scenes is a dedicated team of volunteers who return year after year. Their expertise and passion are the reasons why Dumfries has successfully hosted this event and numerous others over the years for five consecutive years.
"We simply cannot run events of this calibre without the incredible support of our volunteers," says Gordon McKnight. "Their commitment is the backbone of the Ice Bowl, and we owe them a huge debt of gratitude for the world-class standard they help us maintain."
