MSP Carson Thanks Voters For Support, Faith and Trust

Finlay Carson has voiced his delight at being re-elected as the MSP for Galloway and West Dumfries with an increased majority.

The Scottish Conservative and Unionist candidate retained his hold of the seat at the Scottish Parliamentary elections at the weekend, having won by more than 2,600 votes over the SNP candidate.

Immediately after his victory, he said: “I am absolutely delighted and honoured to have been re-elected as your MSP for Galloway and West Dumfries, the place that has always been my home.

“It was an election like no other, and having to wait for almost 2 days for the result is something I hope we don't ever have to do again!”

Mr Carson praised the support of his team during the campaign, admitting: “Every bit of help, no matter how small, helped me to increase my majority to over 2600 votes!

“I would also like to thank everyone who put their trust in me, and voted for me to represent them for a further 5 years in the Scottish Parliament.

The MSP stressed: “I will ensure that my team and I continue to work tirelessly to support, assist and represent everyone in the constituency, whether I got your vote or not.”

Mr Carson admitted the focus must now turn immediately to ensuring local businesses recover quickly from the pandemic in order to protect jobs and avoid unemployment.

He said: “The coming months are going to be difficult, so everything possible must be done to help and encourage all businesses – especially in the rural sector – to become more sustainable and positive in moving forward.

“It is encouraging to see many businesses and companies re-opening again after what has been a difficult period for so many. All our efforts will be in supporting them in any way we can in the months ahead.”
