Tom Armstrong 

President & Chief Executive: Tom Armstrong

Formerly manager of TSB in Dumfries, Tom had a long and successful career in banking before retiring in 2017.


Tom is currently Chair of the Prince"s Trust Youth Business Scotland for Dumfries and Galloway.

Tom is also a business mentor to 3 businesses supported by the Trust.

Vice President: Dayne Boyd

Director of The Boyd Group.

Providing bespoke Health and Safety management, consultancy, training and associated safety supplies to companies worldwide. Within The Boyd Group, Dayne overseas the day to day operations of Boyd Fire, and has become a market leader within the fire safety industry supplying and maintaining fire extinguishers for some of the largest blue chip companies and institutes within the U.K. The Boyd Group reputation has enabled Dayne to be a go to contractor for some of the most senior Directors in the country taking the pressure off of their Health and Safety commitments.

Dayne Joined the family company in 2006 and became a Director in 2012.

Ronnie Bradford - Brookford B&B

Ronnie Bradford, owner and host of Brookford B&B is passionate about the beautiful Glenkens and the surrounding area and is keen to make sure his guests experience the very best of Dumfries and Galloway. This dedication was recognised in 2017 when Brookford B&B was voted Most Hospitable B&B in Scotland by VisitScotland.

Ronnie has dedicated most of the past 2 decades championing tourism as a Director of Dumfries and Galloway Chamber of Commerce and the regional tourism organisation, VisitSouthWestScotland Cooperative Ltd. He is also registered with Mentoring Scotland as a Business Mentor specialising in IT and Tourism businesses.



 Sue Irving DAGCAS Chief Executive

Sue Irving - DAGCAS

Sue is Chief Executive of Dumfries & Galloway Citizens Advice Service and has been working in the third sector for over 25 years. She has a long track record in providing services for vulnerable and disadvantaged people and worked for many years with people affected by homelessness, substance misuse and mental health issues. Sue is a Trustee of Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway, Chair of the Board of Homeless Action Scotland and a Trustee of Langholm Town Band. Sue is also Director of her own training and consultancy company. (Appointed February 2015).

Ruth McGowan

Ruth McGowan - Croma Vigilant

Ruth McGowan joined Croma Vigilant in 2018, after being selected to head up the new front of house services division, Croma PROception.

Ruth has been involved in the business since its inception and has gained valuable start-up experience. The new business has required  a great deal of hard work and thought leadership to turn a vision into a reality. From the outset, the new division has gained considerable momentum and is now operating several new contracts. Ruth has the ultimate responsibility for operational standards and business strategy, she is now looking forward to creating a new standard in front of house services and challenging her industry to raise the bar on quality.

Ruth previously served as an operational Police Constable for 5 years and thereafter went off to fulfil a personal dream to work for Emirates Airline as a Brand Ambassador. During her time, she has gained a wealth of knowledge, particularly around the importance of the customer experience, a perfect fit for her role.


Caroline Robertson 

Caroline started her career in the Royal Bank of Scotland in 1979 and worked her way up from Branch Assistant in Ayton to Branch Manager in Comrie. In 2002 she joined VisitScotland as a Quality Advisor, to carry out Quality Assurance assessments of B&B, Small Hotels, Self-Catering and Holiday Parks throughout Scotland. In 2004 she was seconded for a year as Area Project Manager delivering the Farm Business Development Scheme (FBDS) for SEERAD. In 2005 she moved to Dumfries to undertake the role of Industry Relationship Manager. Her role is to act as the Industry Ambassador for VisitScotland and to be the main point of contact for Industry participants/stakeholders. (Appointed February 2015).

Douglas Russell - Armstrong Watson

Douglas joined Armstrong Watson in January 2012 to take up an Office Leadership role while also focussing on the Audit, Corporate and Professional Practices sectors in Dumfries office while also developing further new client business in the region.

With Partner level experience in Edinburgh with Scott & Paterson and Baker Tilly Douglas has 31 years of experience in the profession, typically working with owner managed Family businesses.

Within Armstrong Watson he also leads the Valuations faculty as well as overseeing the Payroll Service Line.

After a career mainly in Edinburgh, Douglas is now enjoying a different experience living and working in Dumfries and being part of a more rural area



Paul Williamson - Croma Vigilant

Paul Williamson founded Dumfries based security business Croma Vigilant in 1997 and has remained at the forefront ever since.

The business has went from start up to a turnover of £30 million per annum and employs 1200 staff across the UK. Previous to coming into the world of business Paul served with the Black Watch regiment and in his words an experience that has been invaluable in helping create the Croma Vigilant of today.

Paul has a degree in environmental management and is about to embark on another Msc in security and risk management.

Paul is currently Business Person of the Year for both Dumfries & Galloway Life Magazine and DGChamber.
